Application Procedure for Executive LL.M. Admissions
The application for the 2019 Executive LL.M. Program will open on October 15, 2018.
Applications for admission to our 2019 Executive LL.M. Program and all supporting documents must be submitted through LSAC.
For additional information on applying through LSAC and other services LSAC offers, please visit LSAC. Columbia's online application through LSAC will be available in mid-September. Until then, applicants are encouraged to begin gathering (and submitting) their supporting documents for their LSAC Credential Assembly Service Report.
Communications with the Executive LL.M. Office
We look forward to receiving your application and learning more about you. As we move through the application process, due to the large volume of applications we receive, it is not possible for the Executive LL.M. Office staff to report on the progress of applications.
We will send each applicant, by email, the following information regarding her or his application:
- An automatic confirmation that we have received your online application;
- A link to our online Application Status online page, where you can check whether we have received your application components (three to five business days after submitting your application); and
- Notification that your application is complete.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide information regarding the receipt of specific documents as such requests slow the processing time of applications.
We send all admission decisions by email. Offers of admission are also sent in writing, via courier. Please be sure to provide us with a valid email address and a physical address for the courier delivery (we do not deliver admission materials to post office boxes), and to update that information as necessary. Many companies have put up firewalls that block our email messages. Therefore, we recommend that you use a personal email account (such as gmail, hotmail, or yahoo) or speak with your employer’s IT department to make sure that messages from Columbia Law School will not be blocked. All decisions are sent from ExecLLM@law.columbia.edu.
Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, in most cases no later than early February. Rolling admissions means that we evaluate applications randomly; the date you submitted your application often has no bearing on when you will receive a decision. If you have not yet received a decision, it most likely means that we simply have not yet reviewed your application.
You can find answers to many of your questions under the Frequently Asked Questions section of this website. Please address all other inquiries by email to ExecLLM@law.columbia.edu. We will try to respond to all inquiries within two business days.
